Thank you Sue for your reply. Just to let you know, after reading Aromatic Armoury I bought some Bergamot and have been putting 4 drops into my son's bath each morning. He has had a great start to the new year, even embraced school life completely. Thank you once again.

Hi Margaret,

Family can sometimes be a drain on one's resources, especially when as a therapist you have given everything all day long to help your clients. You go home to relax and unwind and recharge your batteries, but instead find that your work has still not finished and you have to give more!

They can sometimes be a little selfish, and knowing that as a therapist you are very compassionate you may be expected to carry on giving your time and energy at home too, without a break. Remember that you owe it to yourself to recharge and fill up your own glass from time to time, so that you can continue to help others - both at work, and at home.

Using the oils mentioned in the article will help to build a strong shield that will help you through these times of family tribulations and emotions.

Beverley,

Your post made me wonder why your son gets down when he returns to school. Is it that he likes to be at home with you and misses you, or does he find that school is a tough place? Perhaps he is a sensitive soul and is easily upset by change or people who are not so gentle or kind towards him.

If he is a bit sensitive then he will worry and fret, so perhaps Lavender, Bergamot, Frankincense and Geranium essential oils would be useful to help to soothe and balance his feelings, and provide emotional protection to him.

Without knowing how old he is I can't say how many drops to use in his bath, but if you mix these four oils into an empty bottle, you can add between 2 to 4 drops of this total mixture to his bathwater and give him a good start to the day.

I am sure that it will help you too, as you must worry about him, knowing how he is affected by school.

Hope this helps.

A wonderful article. I feel like I have been rescued from despair. I'm going though a bad time with family personalities and I am completely drained. I should know about the effect of negative emotions but I've been feeling totally overwhelmed and because its family I have not been putting the protective mechanisms in place that I would do with a client. Thanks.

So very useful. My young son always seems so down at this time of year when he returns back to school. Your article is spot on when you say that one's own emotions drain away when trying to be supportive. To prevent a repeat of previous years' September blues I have been putting drops of Rescue Remedy into his drinks. After reading Aromatic Armoury, I shall now be adding oils to his morning baths.
